Queer Autumn Cinema - spend the long evenings at LGBT+ Community center!

Are you also enjoying the last warm days and soaking up the sun? We definitely are. But because the days are getting shorter and autumn season will soon be here, we are here for you with an autumn batch of movie nights at the LGBT+ Community Center.
Queer Spring Cinema in the LGBT+ Community Center is an inclusive, queer & english friendly cinema that will bring you one or two screenings of the most interesting queer films every month. From classics connected with LGBT+ history to hot new releases. Add to that a little something to bite, and an unforgettable evening is here.
In the autumn, we can expect a classical musical course with Tár, Halloween with Carrie or the Fall of the Berlin Wall with Hedwig. Join us on our way through queer cinematography, we look forward to seeing you almost every Monday of the month, always from 19:30!
We will build on the successful Queer Spring Cinema series by, among other things, making all our projects accessible to English-speaking visitors. We will show the films in English with Czech subtitles, or in the original version with both English and Czech subtitles. You can therefore bring your expat friends with you. We welcome everyone at the LGBT+ Community Center.
The first screening took place on Monday, September 11, and the next one takes place on October 9. We always start at 7:30 p.m., but we open the gates of the Community Center about 20 minutes before the screening, so that you have time to relax and have some refreshments.
All films are in English or with English subtitles.
The entrance fee is only CZK 50, and tickets for all screening until December can be purchased on the GoOut.cz network

The movie Arvéd tells about how far we can go to achieve our goal. Jiří Arvéd Smíchovský was willing to go to the borders of hell itself. The life and death of Jiří Arvéd Smíchovský are still surrounded by many secrets. During the war, as a Nazi confidant, he saved Štěpán Plaček from a concentration camp. After the war, their roles are reversed, Plaček repays the debt and arranges that the court does not demand death for Arvéd for collaborating with the Nazis, but only sentences him to life imprisonment. However, mutual services do not end there. As a state security investigator, Plaček uses Arvéd for his own purposes, to convict inconvenient persons. He rewards him for his services with the perks of being a prominent prisoner and above all with Arvéd's greatest drug - rare occult books from confiscated libraries. Arvéd and Plaček are playing a game of chess. The game for the soul enters the finale.

Conductor Lydia Tár is at her absolute creative peak. He has been conducting a prestigious German orchestra for the seventh year, preparing the publication of a book and the performance of Mahler's Fifth Symphony, which is to be the highlight of the musical season. Lydia appears confident, self-assured, dominant and powerful. However, under this seemingly solid mask hides a normal person, with fears, insecurities, desires and needs. While with the conductor's baton in hand, Lydia is sure of every decision she makes, when she leaves the orchestra, she often loses her footing. Sometimes only slightly, but other times completely fatal.

Carrie White is a shy teenage girl who, thanks to the strict upbringing of her fanatically religious mother, is a total outsider. She is living through hell at school - her more popular classmates (and especially female classmates) constantly bully her and tease her cruelly. But Carrie has a secret: one day she discovers that she has been gifted with the rare and terrifying power of telekinesis. This gift is amplified and gets out of control when there is too much nervous or emotional strain. Over time, she begins to use her powers against the people around her who hurt her. The story culminates in the moment when Carrie is invited to the prom, where she becomes the victim of a very cruel prank by her insidious classmates. Carrie's hidden powers get completely out of control, and everyone who disabled her learns a lesson: If they play with fire, they'll get burned. Will the student party turn into a bloody slaughterhouse, or will everything turn out completely differently?

Instead of the perpetrator of this crime, however, Turing himself was taken away in handcuffs, and was accused of sexual offenses and faced a devastating trial. None of the participants knew that this was a war hero who, together with the team, broke the code of the legendary German encryption machine Enigma. The Imitation Game tells the story of a mathematical genius who, thanks to his amazing talent, helped shorten World War 2, saving thousands of lives.
