PRAGUE PRIDE LEGAL COUNSELING
Through its Legal Counseling service, the Prague Pride association offers support to people confronted with problems directly connected to LGBT+ matters. The counseling service is free of charge.
Types of help:
The legal counseling service is dedicated to people who are discriminated against because they are LGBT+. It helps them find out how to protect themselves if they feel discriminated.
It also provides help in questions specifically tied to the lives of LGBT+ people, for instance concerning the establishment, the continuation or the dissolution of rainbow families or registered partnerships, or the recognition in the Czech Republic of adoptions, marriages or registered partnerships concluded abroad.
Where we cannot help:
Due to limited resources, the legal counseling can only provide service linked to the above-mentioned topics. For other questions, please seek advice from other services:
- Asylum rights – contact Organization for Aid to Refugees, Inbaze organization, or Association for integration and migration
- Protection of victims of hate crimes – contact In Iustitia
- HIV/AIDS – contact The Czech AIDS Help Society
Who works for the legal counseling service:
Legal advice is provided by trained legal advisers, mainly lawyers. The information you might be asked to provide during service will not be used elsewhere without your consent. The right to be silent is legally granted, however, only to lawyers. Non-judicial people involved in counseling cannot refuse to testify.
Reactions to your question may take several days. Normally, we try to get back at you in up to 72 hrs., if not with a complete answer, at least to tell you when that answer could come. If your case is urgent, we suggest to contact a lawyer directly.
The Prague Pride Legal Counseling service is a continuation of the long-term legal advising experience of the PROUD association.
The service is financed from public subventions (in the years 2020-2022 the project was implemented with the financial support of the Government of the Czech Republic) and individual donors’ gifts. Make a gift yourself to help LGBT+ people in need. Thanks!
